Ship III. In pencil.
A red arrow lies on a route map. On the drawing beside it, the ship is still called Ship III. Someone transfers the line to the pale envelope and adds one word: “Like this.” The shipyard extends the line to the nose. The name follows the drawing: RED ARROW.
The direction is clear.
The red nose becomes an arrow stripe. The tail retains the Swiss cross. The pencil and the sheet with its coffee ring belong to the story. RED ARROW is the third sister ship, following THE WHALE and COSMOPOLIT.
An open calendar.
The airline’s connections reach from Zurich, Paris and London to New York, Denpasar in Bali and Beijing in China. Longer journeys take several stages. The red arrow points a direction. The journey keeps its own space.
One home port.
The home port is MRRN Aérodrome, at the cliff edge beside the Sportchalet Mürren. The fleet shares the tasks. The path back to the village remains short.
