GRAVITY RESEARCH
Institute for Gravity and Related Alpine Phenomena
Observing the forces at work in and around Mürren.
Gravity is everywhere. In snow. In stone. In bodies. In buildings. In everything that comes down and everything we insist on taking up. No conclusions have been reached.
FIELD STATION MRRN
46°33’ N · 7°53’ E / ALT. 1’650 M
Mürren is a useful place to study gravity. Nothing arrives here without overcoming it. Nothing leaves without its assistance.
CURRENT RESEARCH
FALL: Things moving downwards.
MASS: Things are becoming heavier.
SLOPE: The influence of inclination on ordinary life.
LIFT: Machines, bodies, and other attempts to oppose gravity.
ACCUMULATION: Snow. Water. Stone. People.
COUNTERGRAVITY: Experimental research. Results pending.
METHODS
OBSERVATION / MEASUREMENT / DOCUMENTATION / FIELD TESTING / SPECULATION.
FIELD STUDIES
Research is conducted in the landscape and under everyday alpine conditions. Altitude, inclination, movement, weight, resistance, and acceleration may be recorded. Accuracy varies.
